You know we're not the only ones talking about this. There are probably many jws families secretly discussing this.
What will happen in the next 5 years????
so i'm thinking...my daughter has a great grand mother that was born in 1900. she was 14 years old in the 1914 year.. well this grand lady died in 1990. my daughter was about 9 years old at that time.
so my daughter can live until 2065.. she will be about 84 in the year 2065. so this "new light" means that 2065 is the new 1914?.
can someone say im right?.

let's review: it's a cult!.
allrighty--got thinking about it in this thread.
isn't it odd that, of all things, that isn't on the list of df offenses?
But on the slim chance that such things could present a clear danger
Man Caleb, if that turned out to be true, it would change my whole freaking paradigm again.
last night i ran into a former elder friend, he is in his late 70s.
he asked how i was doing and i asked how he was doing.
then out of the blue he tells me; .
No problem Fading Truth, I don't blame you, hell we all been dupe, and I know it's difficult for me to believe anything anymore. I'm actually an agnostic on everything, but I also like to read and sooner or later I'm going to have to learn to trust. I don't know if I'll get there but I'm trying to enjoy the journey.

This Overlapping generation is crap, and I don’t believe it. “
Should have gone one step further and said " Well I think all ancient mythology in the bible is crap and I don't believe any of it.
I agree Finkelstein, but like I mentioned to Londo, this man is hitting 80, is not in good health, and has spent his life since a kid serving the master WT as a Regular Pioneer, Elder. I would hate to see him go through what I went. I don’t think late 70s – 80s is enough time to recover from TTATT. Heck it's been only 2 years for me and I'm still going through some hell. Plus all his family are staunch Jehovah’s Witnesses.
I rather let him die in peace.

hey what's going on with these 'dislikes' ?? Usually there's some consistency with how many pluses or minuses for each point of view...these seem to be all over the place. Is something glitching or do people really feel that strongly about john's story
Ha ha, Faye, I thought the same thing. It was just a 5 minute experience of an old JW friend who expressed his dislike of the new generation teaching. It’s not like he left the WT and became a super apostate. He still believes the WT has the truth. I thought if I posted it, I might get 7 or 8 views. Boy what a surprise.
FT was upset not only with my experience, but feels most people here have no critical thinking skills
FT’s Quote; Many here lap up everything that reaffirms their view of JW's without engaging the critical thinking skills
Definition - Critical thinking means making reasoned judgments that are logical and well thought out. Critical thinking is used in making serious decisions that will affect your life or the lives of others.
I’m relating a 5 minute experience. I’m not trying to convince anyone to give me their money of jump of a cliff.
I have to
admit, I do like stuff like this, it keeps my mind of the reality of being dupe
for 40 years. That's a real heavy weight I have to carry.

How much time do you think before they finally let it die????
I mean, it can't go on forever. Especially when many in the organization are starting to question it. Just a few years back, no one was questioning it. But now, the WT has put the spotlight on the OG Idea and some JDubs are taking a closer look because it sounds ridiculous. 5 years ago my friend would have never-ever-have said something against any WT teaching. He was a staunch supporter of any new light. But not anymore.

John, you have to many good stories or experiences, are you making this stuff up. I surely hope not.

John Aquila,
How do you do it? I am assuming you have faded or at least not regularly attending, and yet people come to you and trust you with stuff they wouldn't trust another brother in the faith.
I've only been awake 2 years. I faded because I am well known in the circuit including other cities. I was an elder for many years and gave talks in every convention. I am still respected by many jws, probably because I was not a tyrant elder but I actually liked to help people with their problems. Perhaps that's why they still trust me. Being a Jw for over 40 years allowed me to make friends with a lot of people. Plus I was a very successful business man so most jw see me a a level headed person.
Most of the people that talk to me are 50 years old and up. I've help them when their kids went wild, when their wives left them, I was there when they got sick and lost their jobs. Most of them don't forget that.
On the other side of the story, most of my friends are dying off. I doubt it if in 10 more years anyone will be calling me to talk. Hey, I might not even make it another 10 years, I'll be over 70.
I actually don't think this experience is that great. It was just a 5 minute conversation with a former elder who expressed his disgust for the overlapping generation. I don't see anything extraordinary with it.

My husband watched the broadcast and just sat there saying: 'they're wrong...'
He also says things like: 'If I die of old age in this system...'
Those words were the beginning of me wanting to look at the internet for information on Jehovah's witnesses.

Therefore any Jehovahs Witness who doesn't believe this utterly ridiculous overlapping generation teaching.. has in fact, whether they realise it yet or not, admitted that the 'faithful slave' published a false prophecy.
That’s right DoF. The dubs can’t pick and choose what they believe. If they believe the GB is God’s only channel, they have to accept the overlapping Generation. Even if they change the generation in another 30 years to mean overlapping centuries.
